oddities but awesomeness of life

hello everyone. i know it's been a while since i've updated the blog since i am turning more and more to xanga but i didn't want you to feel left out. things are interesting int he way God works. I started questioning whether ideas are God-inspired in my life and just as i began to doubt my ASU Navs to Holland in summer 2008 idea. I get a call from one fo the Nav evangelism leaders basically saying it's on and the Navs have had God put that area on their hearts. How cool is God. seriously.

It is interesting to find books such as Psalms or Songs of Solomon in the Bible. They are so poetic they are inserted so out of place.

Jesus was not all that original

-Dr. Emerson Prof. of ASU Religious Studies 371 New Testament Class

on a lighter note..this one from Ariel Hays, "America is the land of anti-persperant"

But the voice of truth..tells me a diff. story...

I've been bying into lies since coming back here to ASU. I listened to voices telling me I haven't grown and should've gone elsewhere instead of Holland. I'm being told my 24/7 scheduale still isn't enough. I'm being told because one of my friends reads the Bible faster than I that I am inadequate. I am being told who i thought was my close friend was really just looking for someone better than I all along. I'm being told to be liked I must act differently than I feel. I'm being told nothing is of value that i do and i am not good at or for anything. I am being told i have been foolish thinking people would even bother to care for me.

I know it's all lies in my head but sometimes my heart says otherwise...just stick with me guys as i work through it. This song by Casting Crowns is my plea right now. I'm feeling like no one gets me for me and perhaps that is because i don't even get me right now or why i say things i don't really want to say.
Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves

To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He's holding out His hand

But the waves are calling out my name
And they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy, you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says, "Do not be afraid!"
The voice of truth says, "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand

But the giant's calling out my name
And he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground
And the waves they don't seem so high
From on top of them lookin' down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me

I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

full swing

let me just say...i really love rain. yeah sure, it is as craig said today, 'proof of the sin of man.' as no rain exisited until The Fall but still. I haven't seen even a hint of rain since before going tp PA over spring break. Katy, Josh, Ryan, Jodi, Amber and I went to In-and-Out and spent the day together with a bunch of Navs.

Tonight there is a storm. Lightning...thunder..flooding. I haven't seen a good storm in over a year and i was in Holland then! Speaking of which...i miss my dutch family. i miss my ASU family too. one of the main things that helps me out right now is looking forward to seeing all of you guys again. Soon?

Take the quiz:
Which Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle are You?

You're mature and get the job done. You are a natural born leader, and normally want to be the better of the group. You take your job seriously. You must! It may NOT be a game. When you select a sport, or something you want to do, you train continueously, constantly trying to perfect it. You're always prepared for a challenge, and are normally found one step ahead of your enemies. Loving family more than life itself, you are a good friend, and can be depended on at all times.

Uncy Munkey!!! call me! i miss you! ok..off to finish my english reflection paper. love you all! here are some alsome lyrics for you!

We come rushing through your stereo system
Into your ear canal like the alignments of the solar system.
Have you forgotten about the days when we just wanted to
rock 'cause we like it that way?

And, no more hate, no more lies, no more politics,
Seen the fakes who cry over copied riffs
This is the day that we rise and we conquer it
Raise your mics to the sky like apocalypse

Everyone, Bounce! show me what it's all about
Don't stand up, Bounce! cause we're takin' over now
It's TFK, we rock the party
We keep the party jumpin' in an old school way

Situation restless, like someone tryin' to sneak up on the guest list
Play for a team called "not to mess with"
And check out the scenario, let the sound you hear
control your stereo

Turn it up and let the people know
I'm never lettin' go, I'm never lettin' go
This is the day that we rise and we conquer it
Raise our mics to the sky like apocolypse

Everyone, Bounce! show me what it's all about
Don't stand up, Bounce! 'cause we're takin' over now
It's TFK, we rock the par-tay
We keep the party jumpin' in an old school way
Bounce! show me what it's all about
Don't touch us, Bounce! Get up and let it all hang out
If you find it hard to breath ya better just leave
We 'bout to make it hotter than the third degree

Let's break this mold in, can't let this hold us
Let's be soldiers, go back and let God control us
Boys and girls together we'll shake the world
If you're with me then put it to the sky with me

If you agree there's more to this than what we see
And what we know then bounce 'till you lose control
And grab a partner, we about to make this hotter
Turn up the heat when we get this started

Time has come, now shake up the dust 'till it settles in the sun
Bounce! Get up! Bounce! Push up! Bounce! Switch up!
Let your spirit flow

Bounce! show me what it's all about
Don't stand up, Bounce! Cause we're takin' over now
It's TFK, we rock the par-tay
We keep the party jumpin' in an old school way
Bounce! show me what it's all about
Don't touch us, Bounce! get up and let it all hang out
If you find it hard to breathe ya better just leave
We 'bout to make it hotter than the third degree

You Are a Peacemaker Soul

You strive to please others and compromise anyway you can.
War or conflict bothers you, and you would do anything to keep the peace.
You are a good mediator and a true negotiator.
Sometimes you do too much, trying so hard to make people happy.

While you keep the peace, you tend to be secretly judgmental.
You lose respect for people who don't like to both give and take.
On the flip side, you've got a graet sense of humor and wit.
You're always dimplomatic and able to give good advice.

Souls you are most compatible with: Warrior Soul, Hunter Soul and Visionary Soul

mi padre

a really good friend of my dad's, dan scruggs, passed away a few days ago. He is driving down to San Antonio for the funeral at Ft. Sam Houston where my grandfather's body is. Pray for his comfort. Dan was my dad's mentor in his 90s when he passed and if i remember correctly, dan is the one who helped picked out my mom's engagement ring.

christian one-liners

this is something i am copying from maria but i really liked it...i hope you do too!

It is easier to preach ten sermons than
it is to live one.

The Lord didn't create anything without
a purpose, but mosquitoes come close.

Quit griping about your church; if it
was perfect, you couldn't belong.

God Himself does not propose to judge a
man until he is dead. So why should you?

Coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous.

Don't put a question mark where God put a period.

Forbidden fruits create many jams.

God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.

The task ahead of us is never as
great as the Power behind us.

the sign of friendship...falling asleep after watching lost and having neither one of you notice because you are both zonked out! ahhhh, the gift God has given us!

04 March 2006

Value your friendships..i know i am valuing mine right now. Only here and now could i sit and talk for 3 hours and feel as if it is maybe 30 min max. praise God for his providence in your past, present and future. How great is it that He is above all time and worry and stress and concerns. Hey patella head...that you for that.

In the words of Brian...
Honestly, sometimes I feel so stupid when I write about God on mymy sites, like I'm expected to or something. "Oh, there goes that Alicia kid writing about God again so that other people will be tricked into thinking she's a good Christian that has it all together."

But God deserves to be written about. There aren't many things God doesn't deserve. And in the past few days He has been reminding me why I have faith in Him. Faithfulness is an attribute that God and God alone truly has. Phone calls, messages, smiles... it's not always through reading and praying that we see His character. When everything else in life sucks and you're just sinking and sinking and sinking and you're so close to drowning, God will not always just scoop you out. Sometimes He waits painfully nearby, saying, "Have faith, son. Trust me." It is at that place of brokenness that you can truly understand the peace that passes understanding.
I may not have it all together and it may sound cheesy and lame, but lately I have been learning the only things truly worth learning.

new dvd's thanks to Immanuel and Katy!

Lost is soooo addicitng! but i still recommend it!

i love yogi berra!

It ain't over till it's over.
This is like deja vu all over again.
You better cut the pizza in four pieces because I'm not hungry enough to eat six.
When you come to a fork in the road, take it.
The future ain't what it used to be.
A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore.
It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future.
I knew I was going to take the wrong train, so I left early.
Baseball is ninety percent mental. The other half is physical.
Nobody goes there anymore because it's too crowded.
I don't know (if they were men or women fans running naked across the field). They had bags over their heads.
You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going because you might not get there.
I don't want to make the wrong mistake.
If people don't want to come out to the ballpark, how are you going to stop them?
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is.
Interviewer - "Why, you're a fatalist !" - Yogi Berra - "You mean I save postage stamps? Not me."
Little League baseball is a very good thing because it keeps the parents off the streets.
Mrs. Lindsay - "You certainly look cool." - Yogi Berra - "Thanks, you don't look so hot yourself."
I'm not going to buy my kids an encyclopedia. Let them walk to school like I did.
"That ain't the way to spell my name."--After he got a check that read 'Pay to bearer'.
How can you hit and think at the same time?
You can observe a lot just by watchin'
Always go to other people's funerals; otherwise, they won't go to yours.
Never answer an anonymous letter.
We made too many wrong mistakes.
When asked what time it is: "Do you mean now?"
For a spring training drill, Yogi instructed his players to: "Pair off in threes."
Reporter: "What would you do if you found a million dollars?" Yogi: "If the guy was poor, I'd give it back."
I usually take a two hour nap from one to four.
You can observe a lot just by watching.
You give 100% in the first half of the game, and if that isn't enough, in the second half you give what's left.
I never said most of the things I said.

My Phobia of Mustard and Pickles...

is killing me!

So i woke up relatively arly this morning and tuned into the Maury show. I have to say it was pretty much my most enjoyable tv watching experiance this new year besides beauty and the geek! There were five women all of whom were terrified by various things. One of which was scared of mustard..i mean come on! But the other was terrified of pickles! Geez! It was hilarious...fake or not i don't care! they bring out this gigantic plate of pickles and she looses a shoe running to dive behind some guy for cover. That didn't work so well so as she scambles to run towards the back door she lost her other shoe and began to have a panic attack! She was a waitress and if a coustomer asked for a pickle she would tell them they were out!
The balloon phobia lady ran when she heard a balloon popping on the moniter. She tried to run out the back as Maury was trying to warn, "i wouldn't do that." 2.3 seconds later you hear an even louder scream as she apparently ran right into the room they had the balloons stored in! Man oh man! Anyhoo..they all got their phobias solved..another success for Maury...way to go man!
