myspace

i recently got a myspace and was looking through serching for friends.it saddens me that on the personal profile a lot of people i used to be friends with have a 'yes' marked in either the smoking or drinking section. I saw photos of them in parties i wish they didn't go to. I saw these 'good elder christian kids' take turns for the worse. It saddens my heart...really, it is pretty depressing. As watching people 'get it' in their faith inspires me, so the opposite makes me wish i could weep. Oh yeah, the stress problem and medical issue symptoms are returning..has it really been six months already?!?

Christians can smoke and drink and go to parties...

...in the words of Tim Stevenson: "All that is unwise isn't sin."

...and in more words of Eugene Peterson: "Spiritual formation is a slow business."

Alicia likes to think that that is how one spells the word "shadow" ;-)

Whatever they may or may not call themselves is irrelevant to what they ARE. Again, spiritual formation is a process and sometimes that process involves a lot of unwise choices and unwise titles. I've seen over 1,000 of my teenagers go off to college and call themselves a variety of things but that doesn't change their standing with God nor indicate where they'll be in the future (spiritually speaking). Generally, it's trusting the Holy Spirit, showing love & grace when they're "in process."
